Goa is Glowing in September

Yes, you heard it right…

After a very low tourist turnout in the last 3 months due to COVID restrictions, people have started visiting and Goa is glowing with the post-monsoon greenery, which is far from over, with natural beauty is at its peak.

The month of September has always been a good time to visit Goa, where the monsoon season is nearing the end, the weather is simply mind-blowing and there is greenery all around. You can plan a day on the beach, enjoy your water sports, or do some sightseeing. The dark grey clouds are here but this is what Goa is all about, moderate rain or a drizzle.

September is an amazing time for sightseeing in Goa. A stroll through the local streets and more often than not you’ll encounter folks dancing and making merry. You could join in the Ganesh Chaturthi festivities by visiting the temples throughout the state and by sampling some of the finest savoury preparations such as ladoos and so many more.

You can just take a walk down the magnificent colonial lanes of the Fontainhas or visit the brilliant religious architectural structures like the churches in Old Goa and Temple in Tambdi Surla or the crumbling forts constructed during the pre-liberation era. You can also head to some offbeat locations such as Arambol lake, Salaulim Dam, Rivona springs, etc as this would be the safest period in the rains to trek your way through. All beaches are open and the pleasure of spending time on the beach is not hidden from anyone, the only small setback is that the beach shacks are closed during this season but all the beachside restaurants are open and you can have a gala time there, with music, beer and lots of discounts.

There are some more places to visit in the rains of September:

  • Doodh-Sagar water-falls
  • Lake Mayem
  • Sanctuary in south-most Goa
  • Driving in the rain-drenched greenery of East Goa
  • Sitting on the porticos and covered porches of resorts, savouring tea, coffee, Port Wine and other Goan delicacies
